pyphi.macro.search.SearchBounds#

class pyphi.macro.search.SearchBounds(max_constituents=4, max_update_grain=1, max_depth=1, mappings='FAMILIES', exhaustive_cap=8, apportionment='NONE', max_background=0)[source]#

Bases: object

Bounds on the intrinsic-unit search space.

Variables:
  • max_constituents (int) – Cap on |U^J| per candidate unit.

  • max_update_grain (int) – Largest update grain tau' per level.

  • max_depth (int) – Macroing levels above micro.

  • mappings (str) – "FAMILIES" (coarse-grainings and black-boxings) or "EXHAUSTIVE" (every surjective table, capped).

  • exhaustive_cap (int) – Largest sequence-state count for EXHAUSTIVE.

  • apportionment (str) – "NONE" or "ENUMERATE" (assign background micro units to derived candidates).

  • max_background (int) – Cap on apportioned units when enumerating.

Parameters:
  • max_constituents (int)

  • max_update_grain (int)

  • max_depth (int)

  • mappings (str)

  • exhaustive_cap (int)

  • apportionment (str)

  • max_background (int)

property max_micro_grain: int#

Largest micro grain a derived unit can reach (grains compose down the hierarchy).

estimate(substrate, limit=1000000)[source]#

Pre-flight estimate of the sweep these bounds define over substrate, by pure counting; see pyphi.macro.estimate.estimate_search(). Only the substrate’s size is read — no TPM is constructed and no φₛ is computed.

Parameters:

limit (int)

Return type:
